Challenge

We had worked with Bewley over six or so years to help them establish a niche position - traditional homes, built the proper way.

Instead of redesigning every brochure as they had done, they were better served by a template layout to help save time and start to achieve consistency and a voice that was recognisably Bewley.

Sensibly, they now looked to bring the same order, and a feel for the quality of homes they were building, to their website. They needed it to be simple to use and rewarding for both Bewley staff and prospective buyers.

Thinking

Bewley asked us to answer questions of both form and function. Quite a challenge. So we began to interview the people who made the decisions. The budget wasn’t limitless, but the scope for good work was.

Bewley’s portfolio is vast and varied. They needed complete control over it. We created an advanced content and image management system that allowed them to easily add, edit and reorganise their development details, as well as integrate newspaper campaigns into the banners. With no experience in managing web content, they appreciated our training sessions and saw how easy it was to use.

Together we researched the keywords and phrases people would instinctively type into search engines. Google AdWords campaigns helped them when they needed instant results. It was important to us that they confidently took control of their site, and quickly gained the capability to present their portfolio to the world. 

A ‘welcome home’ style formed the foundation for the new Bewley look and feel. A day of photography focused on the intrigue of different Bewley front doors – ‘dressed’ according to the owner’s lifestyle. “What’s on the other side?” “Not being nosey, but let’s have a look…”

We also made slight adjustments to the Bewley logo, giving it a modern lift without removing it from its roots.

Result

Since the new site launched, Bewley have seen a substantial upturn in traffic. The right people are finding the site. They see the information they need when they get there. They are staying to view the content, not clicking immediately away to other sites. This will only improve as the site evolves over time.

Staff find the management system easy to use and maintain. Functional and capable, it effectively displays properties across multiple home developments. It has also proved cost effective.

Home-buying today is a tough business for all concerned. We hope we’ve gone some way to help bring developer and buyer a little closer together.
